Boxer on the undercard of Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva walked to the ring dressed as a Minion

A boxer on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva fight entered the ring in an unusual fashion last night.

American Ashton Sylve decided the best way to make his entrance would be to wear a Minion outfit.

It clearly had the desired effect as the 18-year-old dominated his opponent Braulio Rodriguez and delivered a lightning-fast knockout within 61 seconds.

He removed the Minion attire once he made it into the ring and then put in an efficient display.

Ashton Sylve vs Braulio Rodriguez – what happened?

Early in the fight, Sylve forced his opponent back as he tried to finish the fight before it could really get going.

The man nicknamed h2O then let a vicious left hook go which sent his Dominican rival straight down to the canvas.

Rodriguez tried to continue in the fight but staggered around the ring once he returned to his feet and the referee decided enough was enough.

The result improves the 18-year-old’s record to 8-0 with all of those wins coming within the distance.

It’s clear that there will be tougher tests ahead for the teenage fighter, but he’s doing all he can at this stage of his career.

The giant yellow Minion suit had diamond eyes and if you’re going to wear something like that, you better back it up and he certainly did that.

Why did Sylve wear it? Well the answer is very simple.

“I mean, I love the movie,” he revealed in his post-fight interview.

“That’s the thing we have a long training camp and you wanna show that in the ring so I got him out there.

“It was on the lit, this is right near my house in Long Beach so this is lit.

“I’ve got to go back to the team but hopefully come back over here, the crowd is incredible. Hopefully, we can do it again.”

In the main event, Paul beat UFC legend Silva on points to remain undefeated in his professional career.

All three judges sided with the internet personality at the Desert Diamond Arena in Phoenix – with the fight being scored 77-74, 78-73 and 78-73.
