'Boxing Is Corrupt' – Canelo Álvarez, Nate Diaz, & Other Fighters React To Francis Ngannou Shocking The World In Decision Loss To Tyson Fury
On Saturday night, former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou made his long-awaited professional boxing debut against Tyson Fury.
Having departed mixed martial arts’ biggest stage at the start of this year in pursuit of improved contractual terms and a venture to a different combat sport, “The Predator” got his wish in the form of a highly anticipated showdown with the reigning WBC heavyweight titleholder.
The pair collided in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where a host of notable were in attendance. While that included fighting figures like Conor McGregor, Manny Pacquiao, and Israel Adesanya, mainstream celebrities like Cristiano Ronaldo, Eminem, and Kanye West were also among those making up a star-studded guest list at the Kingdom Arena.
Along with fans around the world, they bore witness to an incredible display from Ngannou. While the Cameroonian was widely counted out beforehand, he dropped Fury in round three. And more than just going the distance with “The Gypsy King,” the ex-UFC star did enough to win in the eyes of many in the community.
In the end, however, it was Fury who exited the ring with another triumph. The British heavyweight kept his undefeated record in tact courtesy of a split decision victory after 10 rounds.
