Canelo Alvarez's net worth and career earnings revealed ahead of Dmitry Bivol fight

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is boxing‘s biggest star and the highest-paid fighter in the world apart from Conor McGregor.

The Mexican superstar is bidding to become the WBC light heavyweight world champion when he faces rival Dmitry Bivol on May 7.

Canelo Alvarez, 31, unified the super-middleweight division in his last outing as he inflicted the first defeat of Caleb Plant’s career with an explosive 11th-round stoppage in Las Vegas.

Now he has another chance to write his name in the history books again this time in the weight class above.

What is Canelo Alvarez’s net worth in 2022?

Canelo is said to have pocketed $50 million alone from his first fight with Gennady Golovkin in 2017.

His highly-anticipated rematch with Golovkin saw him earn an extra $50 million, while he also recently agreed a new two-fight deal with DAZN and Eddie Hearn worth upwards of $85 million according to reports.

He is also reportedly in talks to extend his deal with Matchroom and DAZN to three fights worth £120 million in total – including a blockbuster trilogy in September against Golovkin.

As of 2022, his net worth according to Celebrity Net Worth is estimated to be $140 million – and that’s without all of the latest sponsorship deals on top of that as well.

However, despite his huge success, Canelo insists he isn’t motivated by money, but by legacy.

He told TMZ: “I love boxing. I love a challenge. I love that adrenaline.

“I need to accomplish everything to be in the books of history of boxing. That’s why I’m here and I love what I do.

“When you see the best fighter go up and down a weight class and beat all the champions? I think nobody, and I try to do my best. For boxing, for me, for my legacy.”

He also went on to speak of his respect for Bivol.

He added: “[Dmitry’s] a really good boxer. He’s a solid champion at 175. It’s a dangerous fight.

“I like it, I love that kind of challenge. I really like it. But, I believe in my abilities, and I’m strong too.

“So, I’m confident in that, but it’s gonna be a really good fight.

“I like the idea to be undisputed at 175. That’s what I like, but you never know.”

His trilogy fight this year with Golovkin could see the pair earn a career-high payday and is expected to be one of the most lucrative fights in history.

But Canelo insists he doesn’t care about any of that instead choosing to focus on the task at hand.

Speaking to DAZN, he said: “I’m hundred-percent focused on Bivol, but I don’t care about the fight with Golovkin.

“I’m a hundred percent focusing on the Bivol fight, and then we’ll see. But the people want to see that fight, right? That fight will be for the people.

“I’m not impressed but he looked good. He looked strong. But I’m never impressed.

“So, I’m never impressed about him. I know what he do, and I know he’s a strong fighter. I know what kind of fighter he is, but I’m not impressed because I know.”
