Laura Woods has jumped to the defence of Gary Neville after he was blasted by Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo in an interview.
Speaking to Piers Morgan on Talk TV, Ronaldo criticised his former teammate and now TV pundit, while also throwing shade towards Wayne Rooney.
“It’s hard to listen to that kind of criticism and negativity from people who play with you, for example, Gary Neville, as well,” he said.
“People can have their own opinion but they don’t really know what’s going on. For example, inside the training ground and Carrington or even my life. They have to listen to my point of view as well. Because it’s easy to criticise but if you don’t know the whole story, it’s easy. They are not my friends.”
Now, talkSPORT host Woods has jumped to the defence of Neville and stressed that Ronaldo is bound to be the centre of attention, given his recent actions.
What did Laura Woods say about Ronaldo?
Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, Woods said: “On Gary Neville specifically… his job is to critique, but Ronaldo is making himself the number one story by refusing to come off the bench or by leaving the game early.
“People aren’t just going to ignore that, especially Gary Neville, who is a Manchester United legend. People are looking to him for his opinion on it and of course he’s not going to look favourably on that.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re Ronaldo or anybody or even one of the new boys coming in, you’re being paid by the club and you can’t act like that.
“If you want to make yourself the number one story, of course people are going to talk about you.
“By doing this interview and saying ‘there’s two sides to every story, people are going through things,’ yeah, but other people are going through things, Cristiano. You might be annoying them as well.
“It can’t always be about one person and this interview screams it.”

Why is Ronaldo annoyed at Neville?
Neville has been outspoken recently regarding Ronaldo’s behaviour at Old Trafford.
After the Portuguese striker walked down the tunnel before the full-time whistle against Spurs, he was dropped for United’s next game against Chelsea.
“End it this week or create a truce to get to the World Cup,” Neville said at the time. “It’s not doing him any favours. Leaving the dressing room before full-time, that’s not what he does, if you’re doing things like that you’ve got to leave.
“There’s not many Manchester United fans who would have Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting 11.”

Ronaldo evidently heard Neville’s comments and proceeded to blank him ahead of United’s clash with West Ham at Old Trafford.
The forward greeted Louis Saha and Jamie Redknapp but chose to ignore the former Red Devils defender.
