Dillian Whyte Releases Statement Following Anthony Joshua Cancellation Due To Adverse Drug Test
The August 12th boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte has been canceled. However, Whyte is remaining confident that the truth about his situation will come out soon.
Joshua and Whyte were expected to meet for the second time, after Joshua scored a TKO in the seventh round of their 2015 contest. While this has been a rematch years in the making, both men are in different places in their careers now, making this seem like a brand new matchup in a lot of ways.

Dillian Whyte Proclaims Innocence After Failed VADA Test
Unfortunately for those who were excited to see this fight happen on August 12th, there seems to have been a bit of a roadblock. Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) had drug tested Dillian Whyte, returning “adverse analytical findings” that have led to the fight with Anthony Joshua being canceled.
Following this news, Whyte took to his social media to give a statement on the situation. Here, he vowed that the truth would come out, as he says this is not the first time he has had a false finding on a VADA test, and that this is a mistake once again.
“l am shocked and devastated to learn of a report by VADA of adverse findings relating to me. I only learned of it this morning and am still reacting to it. I have also just seen that the fight is being cancelled without having any chance to demonstrate my innocence before the decision was taken,” Whyte wrote.
“I can confirm without a shadow of doubt that I have not taken the reported substance, in this camp or at any point in my life. I am completely innocent and ask to be given the time to go through the process of proving without anybody jumping to conclusions or a trial by media.
“I insisted on 24/7 VADA testing for this fight, as I have done voluntarily and at my own expense for all of my fights for many, many years.
“This is not the first time that I have been reported as having an adverse finding for a substance which have not taken, and as I did last time I will again prove that I am completely innocent.
“In the meantime all l can do is express my extreme disappointment to boxing fans, who will miss out on what was sure to be a great event.”
