Graphic shows Uruguay's potential World Cup starting XI – they need to be respected

The Uruguayan national team are looking a real force ahead of the 2022 World Cup of Qatar.

Not that there is any reason that fact should come as a total surprise, Uruguay have, after all, long been a well-respected national team.

But for the 2022 edition of football’s most coveted international prize, La Celeste could be stronger than ever.

Not only does the legendary pairing of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani still feature prominently within their setup, albeit with their powers slightly diminished through age.

But Federico Valverde – arguably the most in-form midfielder in the world – also stars in their side.

Darwin Nunez, Liverpool’s new mega-money signing who has shown flashes of real striking potency will likely feature in the attack.

Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo, who is a potential injury doubt but remains in contention according to Uruguay’s manager, has been one of Barcelona’s standout performers across the last couple of seasons and could play a leading role.

And whilst the aforementioned talents prove the most notable representees for the South American outfit, in truth, they’re just the tip of the iceberg in a squad that runs deep with class.

A graphic, shared to Instagram by Transfermarkt, details what the nation’s potential starting XI could be for the World Cup.

There really is no two ways about it, Uruguay needs respecting as a real force heading into Qatar.

Not only will the nation no doubt excel defensively, as they usually always do, but should Nunez and the other attacking options get firing, then who knows what the limit could be for this team.

Who do Uruguay have in their group?

Drawn in Group H, Uruguay will start their campaign against South Korea on November 24.

They will then go on to a bumper clash with Portugal on November 28. Cristiano Ronaldo and his team will likely prove their main rivals in the group.

La Celeste will then play their final group match against Ghana on December 2.
