'I'm Finally Getting Paid And Respected' – Francis Ngannou Responds To Dana White, Jon Jones Over PFL Signing

Unsurprisingly, Dana White did not have a kind reaction to the deal Francis Ngannou signed with the PFL. Now the former heavyweight champion responds to the comments made by the UFC bossman.

After months of uncertainty, Ngannou finally announced that he signed a groundbreaking deal with the PFL; a contract that came with several notable offerings, including the fact that his opponents will apparently make a minimum of $2 million to fight him, he being a brand ambassador for the PFL’s efforts in Africa, and more. When asked about this deal at a recent UFC post-fight press conference, White had some not-so-kind things to say about “The Predator,” and his willingness to take risks.

“…Based on what I know about the deal, which is not much, it makes no sense to me. I mean, you’re going to pay a guy not to fight for a year, and it’s already been like 18 months. He’s fought three times, and the last three years, it’s just not what we do here. It’s just not what we do, and the day that we released him, I knew exactly what was going to happen, and Francis wants to take zero risks. Doesn’t want to take any chances,” said White. 

Francis Ngannou Fires Back At Dana White

These comments from Dana White immediately made the rounds online, and it did not take long for Francis Ngannou to hear what his former employer had to say. It should not come as a shock to hear that he was not particularly happy with what he heard.

Taking to Twitter, Ngannou responded to the majority of the criticisms that White had for him, regarding his willingness to take risks, and setting the record straight on what happened between he and the UFC President. He also made it clear that his inactivity over the last few years has not been by his design, closing by questioning why White is against him being happy.

“What is your problem with me?

1. I completed my contract, was a free agent, and chose to walk away. you didn’t release me

2. I hate taking risks? that’s why I defended my title to fulfill my contract with no acl or mcl?

3. The reason I fought three times in three years is because you wanted to control my deal and signs a new one. And freeze me out. “I owe these guys three fights a year.” Isn’t that what you say? What happened? I always asked for & never said no to any fight in the 3 years

Jon Jones Gets Targeted Too

Dana White was not the only person on the mind of Francis Ngannou when he got on Twitter Sunday afternoon. He also wanted to take some time to respond to Jon Jones, who has also had a few things to say about Ngannou’s new deal, suggesting that he only left the UFC to avoid a fight between them.

Ngannou followed up his response to White with a video clip of the UFC President talking about Jones demanding more money to fight Francis, from UFC 260. With the UFC President suggesting at the time that Jones was afraid of the fight, the former heavyweight champion told the current champ to make up his mind.

Regardless of how things ultimately pan out for Francis Ngannou, there is clearly no love lost between he and the UFC. It seems likely that this is not the last we will hear of beef between these parities.
