Jon Jones Reacts To Francis Ngannou's Boxing Debut vs. Tyson Fury: "Opens Doors For Everyone."

UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has weighed in on Francis Ngannou’s performance against Tyson Fury this past weekend.

Ngannou lost to Fury in his professional boxing debut by split decision last Saturday in Saudi Arabia. After entering the fight as a significant betting underdog, Ngannou arguably should’ve earned the nod on the judges’ scorecards, earning an early knockdown and frustrating Fury throughout the fight.

Ngannou’s big gamble, cutting ties with the UFC to pursue a big-money boxing match with Fury, paid off in a big way. He could potentially return to the boxing ring one more time before making his PFL MMA debut next year.

Ngannou and Jones have had their fair share of beef in recent years, most heated after their fight didn’t come to fruition in the UFC. But, that hasn’t stopped the two from giving each other credit when it’s due.

Jon Jones Praises ‘Great’ Francis Ngannou After Tyson Fury Fight

“I thought he did great,” Jones tweeted Monday. “I’m glad the fight was competitive. Opens so many doors for everyone in the future.”

Jones has been a recent callout target of Fury and could potentially face Ngannou before their MMA careers end. Fury will face Oleksandr Usyk in his next heavyweight title fight in December before a possible rematch with Ngannou.

UFC President Dana White expressed interest in booking a Jones vs. Fury crossover fight before things took a turn in recent months. It’s uncertain if Fury wants to continue pursuing Jones for a boxing match after his tightly contested win over Ngannou.

Ngannou’s near victory this past weekend opened the doors to many more crossover fights in the future, and Jones seems thankful that Ngannou made the MMA community proud inside the ring.
