Liverpool MMA star Molly McCann to fight Hannah Goldy at UFC London

Having knocked out Luana Carolina with an extraordinary spinning elbow at UFC London in March, Molly McCann will be back on home soil this summer.

She is set to take on Hannah Goldy at the O2 Arena on July 23rd. The American claimed the first win of her UFC career in September with a first-round submission of Emily Whitmire.

McCann, on the other hand, has fought 16 times during her career. She is currently in scintillating form, racking up victories against Carolina and Ji Yeon Kim in recent months.

“This person’s as small as me and I’ve got a one-inch reach on her,” McCann said of Goldy.

“The last fight [against Carolina] was nine inches on me and the fight before [against Ji Yeon Kim] she had 10 inches on me, so you’re actually going to see my boxing ability on this fight.”

It is the second time UFC will host an event in the UK capital this year. McCann’s knockout was a highlight of the first event in March, which was also held at the O2 Arena.

Her clash against Carolina was the first time a women’s match had featured on the main card of a UFC London event, and the bout certainly lived up to expectation.

After delivering the knockout blow to her Brazilian opponent, McCann went running out of The Octagon to celebrate with the jubilant home fans.

The 32-year-old picked up the Performance of the Night award for her dominant display, and her stunning takedown will certainly be considered for Knockout of the Year.

Thanks to her recent form, McCann told GiveMeSport she no longer has to worry about her financial situation, revealing she is now “taken care of really well by the promotion”.
