Michael Chandler Preaches Patience With Conor McGregor Fight Announcement, Says Talks Happening 'Every Single Day'
When Michael Chandler versus Conor McGregor was announced as the return fight for “The Notorious”, everyone had one question in mind, when?
Coaching against one another on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter, it was initially announced that the coaches would square off soon after the season finale as has been tradition with the show.
However, Conor’s return date is only getting further and further away due to the former double champion needing to be in the USADA testing pool for six months before he can compete.
Speaking to Daniel Cormier on his YouTube channel, Michael Chandler gave the fans as much news surrounding the fight as possible, stressing that he understands why people are getting impatient but urging them to keep calm.
“Man, so I can’t give you much of an update obviously yeah there’s talks going on and happening basically every single day. It is a moving target and I do understand the intrigue, I understand the annoyance for a lot of people and I understand how quickly people want answers. They want answers and they want them now. With a fight of this magnitude, two of the most exciting guys in the sport, obviously it’s Conor and his comeback, the greatest comeback in combat sports history he’s calling it, he’s got his documentary. A guy like me who loves to fight, I love being active, I’m a guy that puts butts in seats, of course everyone wants answers they’re eager for answers but ultimately we all have to practice patience.”
Michael Chandler Isn’t Worried About The Delay In Fighting McGregor: “I Knew What I Signed Up For”
Whilst some fighters would have got impatient a while back in having to wait for McGregor to get back in the USADA testing pool so that a date can be arranged, Michael Chandler is keeping composed.
With the biggest fight of his career still hanging in the balance, “Iron” Mike is not worried about the contest slipping away from him or never materialising.
Drawing attention to the fact that their season of The Ultimate Fighter is still airing weekly episodes, Chandler stated that he was anticipating a long wait for the fight in the first place.
“This right now is a time for me to practice patience, I knew what I signed up for, I knew doing The Ultimate Fighter, then there was going to be a lull and a long period of time and the show, we aren’t even halfway through the show yet. Yes, there’s been some stuff happening between me and Conor, there’s all this speculation and all the different conspiracy theories about is Conor coming back”
