'Pro UFC Business Stoppage' – Twitter Goes Mad After Sean O'Malley TKO's Aljamain Sterling At UFC 292
Sean O’Malley capped off his remarkable run to the top of the UFC bantamweight division in style at UFC 292.
O’Malley defeated Aljamain Sterling by second-round TKO in the UFC 292 headliner. After landing a perfectly-timed counter right that dropped Sterling, O’Malley sealed the deal with ground-and-pound strikes before referee Marc Goddard stepped in.
Some, including UFC analysts Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier, felt O’Malley’s stoppage win was a bit premature. But, Sterling didn’t protest the stoppage during his post-fight interview with Rogan.
A wild night in Boston was capped off by one of the most miraculous finishes in UFC history. O’Malley, as he begins his UFC title reign, garnered mostly praise from his fighting colleagues.

Sterling was one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world, and arguably the greatest bantamweight of all time, entering UFC 292. He most recently defended the title against Henry Cejudo at UFC 288 before making the quick turnaround to face O’Malley.
O’Malley earned the title shot by defeating former champion Petr Yan by split decision at UFC 280. He also defeated the likes of Raulian Paiva and Thomas Almeida on his way up the ranks.
As Sterling plans a potential move up to featherweight and O’Malley begins his title reign, the UFC’s bantamweight division is primed for a shakeup at the top of the heap. O’Malley called for a rematch against Marlon Vera, who defeated Pedro Munhoz to kick off the main card, for his first title defense.
2023 continues to be a year full of new UFC champions, and O’Malley is quickly approaching superstar status after adding a title to his legacy.
