The UFC is actively looking for a short-notice replacement to face Sandhagen on August 5th in Nashville. Top bantamweights such as Adrian Yanez have offered to step up on social media.
Nurmagomedov is unbeaten in his UFC tenure with recent victories over the likes of Raoni Barcelos and Brian Kelleher. He is the cousin of UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Sandhagen most recently defeated Marlon Vera at UFC San Antonio earlier this year. He has won back-to-back fights since a loss to Petr Yan for the interim UFC bantamweight title.
Sandhagen could potentially earn a bantamweight title shot with a victory in Nashville. UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley will fight for the belt at UFC 292.
It’s uncertain how long Nurmagomedov will be sidelined after his reported withdrawal from competition.
