Serving police officer charged with attempted murder after woman injured in hotel


serving officer in Lancashire Police has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was injured in a hotel.

James Riley will appears in court on Monday, Greater Manchester Police said in a statement on Sunday morning.

They said: “At approximately 11.30pm on Thursday 10 November 2022, police were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a woman at a hotel on Brook Street, Manchester.

“Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.”

Riley, 27, has been remanded in custody and will next appear at Manchester Crown Court on Monday 14 November 2022.
