The American businessman was in attendance as an energetic Potter oversaw a 2-1 aggregate victory over the German outfit to secure what had looked like an unlikely passage to the quarter-finals.
It is now two wins on the bounce for Potter, who last week admitted that results had left his job “in peril” as ever-heightening speculation suggested his job was under severe threat.
Just four days later and the clouds appear to have parted over Stamford Bridge, emphasised by Potter and Boehly’s hug in the tunnel after the game.
