Tom Aspinall Reveals Advice From Michael Bisping For Short Notice Title Fight Against Sergei Pavlovich At UFC 295
UFC heavyweight contender Tom Aspinall heard from UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping shortly after the news broke of his upcoming fight.
Aspinall will face Sergei Pavlovich in the UFC 295 co-main event on November 11th in New York City. He got the call to compete for the interim title after Jon Jones’ withdrawal due to injury, and Stipe Miocic’s refusal to have another fight booked.
Aspinall will look to etch his name in the UFC history books with an interim title win over Pavlovich at UFC 295. By this time next year, either Aspinall or Pavlovich could be crowned the lineal heavyweight champion, if Jones and Miocic retire after their planned fight in 2024.
Bisping made the most of a two-week notice opportunity when he knocked out Luke Rockhold at UFC 199. He went on to defend the belt against Dan Henderson.
Bisping wants Aspinall to echo his accomplishment, but not to make the short-notice element a big focus of the buildup.

Tom Aspinall Will Look To Replicate Michael Bisping’s Short-Notice Success
In a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Aspinall revealed what Bisping told him shortly after he was booked for UFC 295.
“Even on two weeks’ notice, why can’t I do it?” Aspinall said. “He told me to believe in myself, and it’s not about two and a half weeks, it’s about the last 10, 15 years that you’ve been putting [work] in. I believed in this s*** for years before anyone ever believed in me…
“It’s about the last 15 years of my life. And I’m ready to show that.”
After suffering a serious knee injury last year against Curtis Blaydes, Aspinall made a triumphant return in July by knocking out Marcin Tybura in London. The injury stoppage loss to Blaydes was his first and remains the only, one of his UFC tenure.
Aspinall will look to become the UK’s latest UFC titleholder alongside current UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards. While he has a steep battle with little time to prepare, he’s looking to mimic Bisping’s history-making moment.
