Tottenham: £60m star not 'electric' signing Conte hoped for at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison hasn’t scored the goals they were hoping for, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The 38-cap Brazil international has two goals to his name in a Spurs shirt and is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League since his £60m move from Everton.

What’s the latest news involving Richarlison?

With Tottenham boasting one of the best front-threes in Europe in Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane, Richarlison always had a difficult task on his hands to make a starting spot his own.

As a result, the ex-Everton star found himself on the bench for his first four league games, with Antonio Conte preferring Kulusevski following his outstanding end to last season.

Which year did Gary Lineker leave Tottenham Hotspur?

But after some bright cameo appearances, one of which saw him assist Kane’s second goal at Nottingham Forest, Richarlison was handed his first league start against Fulham last month.

He would enjoy a long run in the team in both the league and Champions League, scoring his first goals against Marseille, while claiming a couple of assists.

However, Richarlison’s run in the side will come to an end after he suffered a calf problem against Everton, which is set to keep him out for a couple of weeks.

What did Brown say about Richarlison?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I don’t think he’s been the kind of electric signing they were hoping for. He hasn’t scored the sort of goals that they thought he might, but I think he still does give them something a little bit different.

“He gives them a spikiness and he goes into areas that I think perhaps Kane and Son don’t always, so I just think he’s an option that’s been really important for Spurs at times and they will miss him while he’s out.”

What games could Richarlison miss?

Richarlison might end up just missing two weeks, but during this crazy schedule, he could end up being ruled out for four or five games.

He was forced to sit out the trip to Manchester United and then the weekend clash with Newcastle in north London.

Tottenham are back in Champions League action next week, meaning Richarlison will miss the crucial home meeting with Sporting Lisbon.

Unless the Brazilian recovers quicker than expected, he’ll also be unavailable for Spurs’ final game of October against Bournemouth and then maybe their last Champions League group stage match in Marseille.

Therefore, he might be targeting the crunch meeting with Liverpool on 6 November, which will be just under three weeks to the day from when he suffered the injury against Everton.
