Spurs, and their manager, need a victory after three on the bounce saw them crash out of the FA Cup and Champions League and see their grip on fourth spot loosen – but they may have to find one without Ivan Perisic or Emerson Royal.
Emerson has been one of Spurs’ best performers in recent weeks, but picked up a knock in the draw with AC Milan on Wednesday and has been unable to train. Perisic has trained but remains a doubt.
Conte said on Friday: “Emerson didn’t have training today because he had a kick and today he wasn’t able to train. Tomorrow morning we’ll try him and see if he’s available at least for the bench.
“Another situation we have to monitor is Perisic. He had a training session today but tomorrow I have to speak to him and see if he’s available.”
Pedro Porro, impressive in a short cameo against Milan, would come in for Emerson, while Ben Davies has deputised well for Perisic on the left. Cristian Romero is fit after an injury scare, and fellow centre-back Eric Dier is available again after European suspension.
Up front, expect the three to be Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski and Heung-min Son again after Richarlison’s scathing post-match rant in midweek angered Conte – the manager describing it as “selfish” and a “mistake” – so he can expect a seat on the bench. Arnaut Danjuma, though, deserves a chance to impress after barely featuring since joining on loan.
Predicted Tottenham XI: Forster; Romero, Dier, Davies; Porro, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Perisic; Kulusevski, Kane, Son
