Man United plot Kane bid

Talking of shock swoops, Manchester United are ready to launch a bid for Harry Kane.

The Mail report on early plans being formulated inside Old Trafford to make a summer approach, when the Tottenham striker will have just 12 months left on his contract.

Kane is said to be open to joining United and Spurs will demand over £85m for his sale.

That figure will likely rise for a domestic rival, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also keen.

What Ancelotti has said about Camavinga

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has suggested that he’s been underwhelmed by Eduardo Camavinga of late – could that be music to Arsenal ears?

He told the club website: “The substitution against Valencia was a technical one. He played well, but I changed him so as not to risk playing with 10 players.

“He played well against Barcelona, but I switched him because I wanted to bring more players on up front.

“I really believe in him. Admittedly, I’ve taken him off a number of times at the end of the first half and I haven’t always been fair to him in this respect, but I have complete confidence in him and he’ll contribute to the team tomorrow just as he always does.”

Trossard can have ‘immediate impact’

Mikel Arteta has backed Leandro Trossard to hit the ground running at Arsenal and keep their Premier League title charge on track.

Trossard joined Arsenal on Friday afternoon from Brighton, arriving as part of a deal that could eventually be worth up to £26million.

“We are really happy to have him, he’s a player we followed for a while,” said Arteta.

“The opportunity came and we had the necessity for a player in the frontline who is versatile enough to play different positions.

“He knows the league, he has enough experience here and I think he can have an immediate impact on the team.”

Moyes: Ings as good as it gets

David Moyes has explained West Ham’s move to sign Danny Ings, claiming the forward is “as good as it gets” during the January transfer window and backing him to fire the Hammers clear of the drop.

Ings has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at the London Stadium after completing his switch from Aston Villa in a deal worth £12million plus £3m in add-ons.

“We need someone who knows the league,” Moyes said of Ings, who has 68 top-flight goals in 188 appearances across the course of his career.

“We’ve been linked with a few players and we’ve looked at a few players to try and bring in to strengthen [us], but I wanted to bring in someone who wasn’t a risk, knew how to score.

“I think Danny Ings is as good as it gets and to be fair, at this time of the year, it’s not easy to pick up centre forwards. We’re really pleased to have him, he’s already settled in quite well this morning so we’re really pleased to get.”

Gordon ‘like gold dust’ for Premier League sides

Stan Collymore has urged Arsenal and Manchester United to make a move for Anthony Gordon.

The Everton winger was strongly linked with a move for Chelsea in the summer but that move eventually fell through. Gordon has only scored three times this season, but Collymore believes he should still be a man in demand.

“Gordon is young enough that he still has time to develop, so if I were the technical director at the likes of Arsenal and United, I’d definitely have him on my list,” Collymore told CaughtOffside.

“Purely because you can never have enough players, especially homegrown, Premier League-proven ones, who are attack-minded and good at getting in the box. They’re like gold dust.”

Man United duo available

Anthony Elanga and Facundo Pellistri are available on loan this month.

Sky Sports claim that Manchester United would be willing to let the duo leave the club in January, with Everton among the clubs interested in Elanga.

However, recent reports have suggested United would likely block Elanga moving to Goodison Park due to the toxic mood at the club.

Liverpool interest in Mount as contract talks continue

Chelsea are pushing to agree a new contract with Mason Mount, amid fears of Liverpool’s interest in the midfielder.

The Blues have to yet to meet the demands of Mount, who has entered the final 18 months of his currently deal and wants a significant pay rise form the £75,000-a-week salary he is on at the moment.

The Guardian report that Liverpool will make a move for the 24-year-old if Chelsea do not make progress in negotiations, but the Blues would be unwilling to sell to a rival and are confident an agreement can be reached with Mount.

Madueke to Chelsea a done deal

Noni Madueke has signed his Chelsea contract as his move nears completion.

Fabrizio Romano reports that official confirmation of the deal will soon follow, with the PSV man joining the Blues for a fee in the region of £30m.

That will take the spending under Todd Boehly to beyond £450m…
