UFC Lightweight Slams "Fat" Opponent After UFC Fight Night Charlotte Bout Cancellation

Natan Levy vs. Pete Rodriguez is no longer going ahead at tomorrow’s UFC on ABC 4 event.

Levy recently took to Twitter to confirm the fight was not going ahead due to Rodriguez failing to make weight. A frustrated Levy blasted Rodriguez for being “unprofessional” and for costing him a payday and the chance to perform. Levy also noted that Rodriguez’s major weight miss could likely hamper his own career moving forward. 

Despite missing out on a fight on the card, Levy confirmed he will still be at the event.

The fight was expected to be at 155lbs, by just how much weight Rodriguez missed the mark is yet to be revealed. 

“We Even Offered A Catchweight” – Eric Nicksick On The Levy vs. Rodriguez Debacle

Natan Levy’s coach, Xtreme Couture’s Eric Nicksick, has also spoken on the matter. He initially revealed in a response to another tweet that they offered Rodriguez a catchweight that he also failed to make. 

Yep, it’s off. We even offered a catch weight and Pete still couldn’t make that. Doctors pulled him. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Nicksick has since provided more information on the matter. In an official statement on his Twitter page, Nicksick confirmed both the fight’s cancellation and the catchweight issues that led to it being completely called off. Rodriguez was reportedly pulled from the fight by his doctors, suggesting something likely went wrong during his weight cut. 

The MMA coach cited the previous delay of the bout two weeks ago as a worrying sign that left him with a bad feeling regarding the likelihood of it happening at all. 

Unfortunately, @Natan_Levy’s fight has been pulled. His opponent Pete Rodriguez failed to not only make the contracted weight, but also the catch weight we agreed on. Doctors pulled him. Had a feeling this would be the case, seeing we had to move it 2 weeks ago. Fight game. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Levy has also confirmed more regarding the catchweight issue, including agreeing to more than one weight increase that Rodriguez failed to make. 

Just to be clear, we were scheduled to fight at 155(+1),
They asked for a catchweight so I agreed to fight him at 158, then they asked for 160 and I said Yes already being below that weight I heard he was crying and losing his shit and quit at 162.

‘Lethal’ Levy is currently on a two-fight winning streak, having bested both Mike Breeden and Genaro Valdez via unanimous decision. The wins have helped him bounce back from his first and only professional MMA loss to Rafa Garcia back in November 2021.
