UFC Welterweight Warns Islam Makhachev, Dustin Poirier & Michael Chandler To Avoid Move To 170: 'Stay Ya Asses At 155'

Ever since Conor McGregor became the first ever champ-champ in UFC history, fighters have looked to follow in his footsteps.

Amanda Nunes, Henry Cejudo and Daniel Cormier have all been able to pull off holding titles in multiple weight classes simultaneously, separating themselves from the pack.

The likes of Alexander Volkanovski and Israel Adesanya have also tried to accomplish this feat but came up short and now, there are multiple lightweight contenders with their eyes on the weight class above.

Most notably, 155-pound champ Islam Makhachev has made his champ-champ aspirations very clear whilst two other lightweight vets are looking at taking on a new challenge.

With Makhachev, Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler all potentially having 170-pound runs in their future, there is a whole division waiting to welcome them to the weight class.

Lightweights Moving Up To 170-Pounds Issued A Warning By Welterweight Contender

Joaquin Buckley is never one to keep quiet about what the fighters in and around him on the roster are up to.

Constantly calling his shot to try and secure big fights, you can usually find out what other contenders are up to via his social media pages alone.

In a recent post on X, he posted a threat to the lightweight contenders that could have their eyes on a fresh challenge, including the champion himself, Makhachev.

“Islam, Dustin, and Chandler Stay Ya Asses At 155 Cuz Ya Move Up To 170 I’m Gone Be On Ya Head”

Fans reacted to his post in the replies and whilst one fan was complimentary of his statement, the others weren’t on the same page as “New Mansa”.

Elsewhere, he received a variety of pushbacks on this post which is frankly, nothing new to Buckley at this stage though one fan did defend him in a response.

Bro islam was getting man handed by volk in the first fight and volk is 30 pounds lighter then buckley

The other responses, suffice to say, weren’t so positive of his chances of getting a fight or beating one of the three names he mentioned.
