WWE President Lays Out Plan For WWE-UFC 'All-Star Weekend'
Fans are still waiting to see how exactly the WWE-UFC merger may influence both companies, but it certainly seems like there are plans in place for some big weekends showcasing each promotion’s respective products.
News of a merger between the WWE and the UFC was first announced back in April, and as of this week the two promotions have officially come together under TKO Group Holdings.
The move is obviously a massive one for the sports and entertainment landscapes, and the newly-formed company is valued at a staggering $21 billion.
WWE President Proposes “All-Star Weekend” For UFC And WWE
It’s still early days as far as the specific plans for the WWE and UFC, but apparently WWE President Nick Khan revealed on The Bill Simmons Podcast that an “All-Star TKO Weekend” is something that’s seriously being considered.
“Yes, what everyone envisions is, can you set up an all-star TKO weekend where SmackDown goes on Friday, UFC on Saturday with pay-per-view, and WWE goes with a premium live event on Sunday.”
Dana White has already dismissed the suggestion that TKO will try to convert every UFC fan into a WWE fan and vice versa, but there’s enough crossover between the two fan bases already that the idea of a stacked weekend of fights and professional wrestling should interest quite a few people.
The biggest question that UFC and MMA fans might likely have regarding an “All-Star Weekend” would be around the pricing of each of the events mentioned. The cost of UFC Pay-Per-View events has been increasing each year regardless of the actual quality of the cards, but potentially bundling a weekend of events into one package could be a massive selling point for fans of both organizations.
